(Bodie, Hatteras and Ocracoke Districts)

Piping Plover (PIPL) Observations: Monitoring for migratory PIPL and other migrant avian species is being conducted on a weekly basis.

PIPL Summary: Bodie Island Spit currently has two active broods. The last PIPL nest on South Point was lost to unknown causes on 7/21.

American Oystercatcher (AMOY) Summary: Currently there is a total of three AMOY broods and twenty five fledged AMOY chicks. Bodie-Hatteras District has three AMOY broods and nine fledged chicks. Hatteras District has nine fledged chicks. Ocracoke has seven fledged AMOY chicks.
