PIPL Summary:  On Cape Point we have one brood, one nest in the process of hatching (2 eggs and 2 chicks), and three active nests.  On South Beach we have one active nest and scraping continues to be documented.  We currently have four active nests on Ocracoke.  One nest is on North Ocracoke and three nests are on South Point.  Scraping continues to be documented on South Point.

American Oystercatcher (AMOY) Summary:  We currently have 4 AMOY broods, 1 nest in the process of hatching (two chicks and one egg), and 15 active AMOY nests.  Bodie-Hatteras District has one AMOY brood, five active nests and one pair on a scrape territory.  Hatteras District has two AMOY broods, one nest in the process of hatching and six active nests.  One pair is intermittently incubating the “abandoned” nest but it is also actively scraping within its territory.  Ocracoke has one AMOY brood, four active nests and one pair on a scrape territory.

Colonial Waterbirds (CWB
s): LETEs, COTEs and BLSKs have been observed in and near historic colony locations.  In the Bodie-Hatteras District one mixed colony (LETE, COTE) is forming on Bodie Spit, another mixed colony (COTE, BLSK) is forming on Green Island, and four LETE colonies have been documented between Ramps 23 and 30.  Four active LETE colonies have been documented in Hatteras District.  Two mixed colonies have been documented on North Ocracoke and one LETE colony and one mixed colony have been documented on South Point.
